Have you bought a gift for your IT web guys (or gals) yet? No? You need to hurry. Why? Friday April 29th is officially Web Professionals' Day. Says who? GoDaddy, that's who. I guess when you're the biggest domain seller in the world you can start holidays. And, it's not like this is the first IT Web Workers Day, it's the 4th annual. Oh, and I like the name "IT Web Workers Day" better than "Web Professionals' Day". If Go Daddy can start the holiday, why can't I call it what I want to? The idea of the holiday is to give thanks to all internet professionals around the globe - the people who help develop, run, refresh, secure and repair web sites at your office, or even your home. The Bureau of Labor Statistics say there's actually 1.5 million IT web workers today in the U.S. alone. Chances are you have a favorite web master in your life, especially if you're a small business owner. You bought a present for Administrative Assistants Day, and expect to receive a gift on Bosses' Day, so why not share the love? Here's some gift ideas: - A whole bunch of gourmet donuts and coffee with a nice note saying thanks. Just don't serve anywhere near the actually computer servers. Coffee is terrible mixed with a computer. Kind of "Dilberty", but hey, it's the thought that counts. Plus maybe your IT web guys will get more work done wired on all that sugar and coffee. - How about upgrading their work computers? Nothing wins the heart of a computer nerd more than a deluxe new Mac with all the right computer internal and external gadgetry things included. Not sure what "things" to include? Best ask your head IT guy (if he can keep a secret), or the geekiest looking guy at the Apple Store. They can give you the 411. - I like this one the best. Why not buy a shared web hosting package for the team? That way, they're not trying to put up their personal websites on the company server. A green package from Hostpapa is really cheap. Plus, then you're kind of snubbing your nose at GoDaddy for starting the holiday in the first place by using one of their competitors. Besides, all the best IT web guys know GoDaddy is great for registering domains, but not-so-great for web hosting. IT Web Workers Day| GoDaddy Technology Provider Holiday
